Eat Cow Tongue and Giant Mushrooms with Pornsak!

Pornsak’s new show 食在好源頭 will be on television soon. As his fans, let’s follow him around the globe on a “preview trip” with hints dropped on his twitter, and see what this delicious new show has to offer!

In one of his episodes, he will be bringing us to Sendai, Japan.

Sendai is the capital city of Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, and the largest city in the Tōhoku (northeast) region. The city has a population of one million and is one of Japan’s seventeen designated cities. The city was founded in 1600 and is well known by its nickname, the “City of Trees” .

Gyūtan (牛タン?) is a Japanese food that is made from grilled beef tongue.

The word gyūtan is a combination of the Japanese word for cow (牛, gyū?) and the English word tongue.

Since gyūtan literally means “cow tongue,” the word is also used to refer to cow tongues in Japan. The custom of cooking gyūtan originated in Sendai in 1948, and is usually served with barley rice, tail soup, and pickles in the Sendai area.

The show also shows this 香菇 that is as big as Pornsak’s fist!!

It is generally known in the English-speaking world by its Japanese name, shiitake.

The stems of shiitake are rarely used in Japanese and other cuisines, primarily because the stems are harder and take longer to cook than the soft fleshy caps.

The highest grade of shiitake are called donko in Japanese.

Sounds delicious already! 食在好源頭 will be coming very soon!
